Your Living Classroom
Rottnest Island is an A Class Reserve, located just 19 kilometers off the coast of Fremantle, Western Australia. It is a unique environment, hosting an incredible diversity of natural and cultural treasures in one very accessible location.
In a short 30-45 minute ferry trip from the coast, Rottnest Island enables students and families to discover a history dating back as far as 30,000 years ago when the Island was still joined to the Western Australian mainland.
Through self discovery or having the Rottnest Island team create an itinerary for you. There will never be a dull moment.
Rottnest Island staff are trained to deliver curriculum-linked learning experiences for school students that encourage investigation, and hold necessary licences and qualifications to keep both the environment and your students safe.
Learning experiences include exploration of the marine and inland environments. The island’s Discovery Centre provides a great venue for students to view fauna specimens, both on display and under the microscope.
There are also tours by foot and bus available that will uncover the Island’s rich and complex history and a range of Island businesses that will host every other activity you can think of.
