Environmental Education Programme
The Rottnest Island Authority's Environmental Education Programme promotes the conservation of Rottnest Island by increasing awareness and understanding of the unique Island environment. On Rottnest Island, students can investigate topics ranging from marine life to broad environmental management issues.
Groups coming to Rottnest Island for day excursions or extended camps are invited to participate in a variety of exciting educational activities. Among these are guided walking and cycling tours, beach tours and art activities. Most activities are based outdoors to make the most of Rottnest's unique environment, while others are conducted in the fascinating Discovery Centre.
The Rottnest Island Discovery Centre consists of two multi-functional rooms. The first of these displays educational exhibits for hands-on learning, while the second is a laboratory containing microscopes and other investigative equipment. Both are ideally suited for briefing sessions to complement the many outdoor activities that Rottnest offers.
