Rottnest boasts a rich variety of flora and fauna.
Fauna
The Island is home to many species of marine and land dwelling animals.
The Quokka
The most unique animal is the quokka, a small marsupial, which has the appearance of a pint-sized kangaroo. Popular with the tourists, it is important that these animals are not fed by kindly tourists as they can become very ill. To find out more about the quokka click the heading link above.

Bird life

Marine life
Rottnest Island has a variety of marine inhabitants, from exotic tropical fish, sea lions, sea stars to marine marvels such as the manta ray. The Island has 360 species of fish and twenty species of coral within the marine reserve. Rottnest's waters also attract the bottle-nose dolphin and the migration of humpback whales. Flora
