Rottnest is fortunate to have many dedicated volunteer groups contributing to the natural, historic and recreational values of the Island. These include the Rottnest Voluntary Guides Association, the Winnit Club, the Rottnest Island Conservation Foundation, Friends of Rottnest, the Rottnest Society, Scouts Australia, the Honorary Bay Rangers, Sea Rescue, Fire and Emergency Services Authority for Western Australia, school groups and many more including Rottnest Island Authority Staff.
Volunteers on Rottnest Island undertake a wide variety of tasks including tree planting, weeding, conservation works, provision of interpretative tours, as well as maintenance and construction of RIA assets.
Volunteering on Rottnest Island is a unique and rewarding experience which gives volunteers a different view of the Island we all love.
Without the support and dedication of its volunteers, visitors to the Island would not receive the same experience of a cared for environment with its unique heritage conserved. Rottnest Volunteers do a fantastic job!
The RIA has a full time volunteer coordinator position within the environment section. This position enables the RIA to take a coordinated approach to all volunteer activities occurring on Rottnest Island.
