You have the opportunity to demonstrate your passion for the Island by making a tax deductible donation to the Rottnest Island Foundation, a voluntary organisation established to raise funds to to enable future generations to enjoy an unspoiled Rottnest Island experience.

Recent Foundation projects include:

·         Active involvement in an ongoing joint reforestation project with the Rottnest Island Authority, along with a fencing program to propagate and plant indigenous trees on the Island's denuded areas. A Foundation member recently donated $20,000.00 to further this project.

·         When pedestrian traffic to the Rottnest Tearooms threatened the survival of the fore dune in front of the Tearooms, the Foundation funded the construction of a boardwalk and fencing that now allows visitors to enjoy the view while protecting the fragile dune system.

·         In 1999, the Rottnest Island Foundation funded the establishment of the Discovery Centre at Kingstown Barracks, allowing people to increase their knowledge and awareness of the Island by providing access to information about Rottnest Island's land and marine ecology.

·         More recently, the Foundation contributed to the upgrade and interpretation of the Signal Ridge site. The Foundation's donation of $25, 320.00 has been spent on signage, bicycle racks, tables and benches, brochures and marketing material.

·         The Foundation has raised other funds by printing greeting cards featuring photographs taken from the Colours of Rottnest book, published to celebrate the Island's tri-centenary.

·         Other projects have included the Rottnest Island 2000 Calendar and the establishment of jarrah park benches around the Island. These benches feature the inscription of sponsors, acknowledging their donation to the Foundation. This is an ongoing project and benches are still available.
