Rottnest Voluntary Guides

The Rottnest Voluntary Guides Association (RVGA) was established in 1986 to promote an increased awareness and appreciation of the Island's natural environment and historical significance for visitors.

More than twenty years on and 250 volunteers later, the RVGA has gone from strength to strength in providing a wide range of visitor services on Rottnest Island including tours and other recreational activities that illustrate the Island's natural and cultural history in the public arena.

The RVGA is an incorporated group with a formal constitution, and a management committee that meets on a regular basis. Financial members are required to perform rostered duties for a minimum of six days per financial year.

Each day, a minimum of seven guides travel to Rottnest to conduct guided history tours and show visitors over the Guns and Tunnels. They also staff exhibitions such as the Pilot Boat Display, the Salt Store, the Museum and Lomas Cottage as well as providing advice to the Island’s visitors. Visit them at the Salt Store.
