About Podcasts
Podcasting makes audio files available to you via a 'feed'. This feed automatically delivers updated audio files to your PC or Mac. You don't have to come back to find new content - rather, the system will look for our updates and automatically put them where you can listen to them. Put simply, our podcasts allow you to listen to recordings of audio about Rottnest Island while on the road or at your home computer - whenever you fancy! It's like listening to your favourite radio show whenever and wherever you want. You can then listen to the podcast on any portable media player or computer - you don't necessarily have to have an iPod.
How do I listen to a podcast?
If your computer has a sound card you can listen to individual podcasts right now. Just click the file and listen. If you want to save the file to your computer, 'right click' and choose 'save as' to get it.
If you want to make your Rottnest tour portable, you can download them to a media device, such as your iPod or whatever MP3 player you have.
How do I subscribe to the podcasts?
If you want to subscribe to our feed, you'll need to get hold of a podcasting client, such as Apple's iTunes (version 5 and up has native podcasting support) or iPodder. There are heaps of other options out there, but these two are pretty well established. Just follow the instructions on the sites to download the products - they're free, and downloading is quick and easy. This software will manage your podcast subscriptions, too.
