  Want a professional reason for coming to Rottnest Island?
This course provides participants with an overview of Rottnest Island’s layered history and cultural connections that have stretched back thousands of years. Participants will hear dreamtime stories of the traditional owners, the Whadjuk people, and discover the more recent history of maritime exploration, European discovery and see evidence of the defence Rottnest Island provided to Western Australia’s mainland assets.

The fifth annual Rottofest will be a weekend of film, comedy and music, which celebrates the finest musicians, comedy filmmakers and stand-up comedians from across the country.

Line-up details and Early Bird tickets will be released mid July. 

Rottofest are now accepting submissions for funny short films and filmed sketches, cash prizes and a VIP trip to Rottofest 2013 up for grabs!

Professional Development Course

Environmental Awareness




  Want a professional reason for coming to Rottnest Island? 
This course provides participants with an insight to how Rottnest Island really operates behind the scenes to deliver essential services to visitors, businesses and residents including the provision of water and energy, treatment of waste water and waste management. The day will include visits to sites that demonstrate the Authority’s programs and initiatives that address environmental management including rehabilitation projects, marine sanctuary zones and a sustainable villa that is on trial.

Race around the Rock! 

  Get on board the Adventure Race phenomenon by racing around the rock on Saturday September 21st. Tackle it solo, or get a team of 4 together for a unique opportunity to take part in this multisport event on Rottnest Island. 

With an ocean swim, ocean paddle, trail run and mountain bike ride, this is a chance to challenge yourself, train for any upcoming events or just have some fun. Enjoy a great after party and make a weekend of it at your favourite Island.

Project 2013 


  PROJECT 2013 is an initiative by the Royal Australian Artillery Historian Society of Western Australia to commemorate 75 years of Artillery history in Western Australia. During 2013 we celebrate a number of significant anniversaries including the 75th Anniversary of the proofing of the 9.2 inch Guns at Oliver Hill, Rottnest Island. 

Join us on the Island for a weekend of Military celebrations – more details to follow.

Annual Brooks Marathon and Fun Run

Brookes Marathon

 

The 18th Brooks Rottnest Marathon (42.195km) and accompanying 5km and 10km fun run are organised by the West Australian Marathon Club with proceeds being donated to Channel Nine’s Appealathon.

  The Boating Industy Association of WA Safety Convoy  

The Boating Industry Association of WA have been organising Safety Convoys for over 20 years and are conducted in March and November. The Convoys educate new boat owners on how to reach and use the waters around Rottnest Island in a responsible and safe manner.

Students from Clontarf Football Academies from across the State compete in a round robin AFL football competition held on the Sports Oval Rottnest Island.

Open to the public, the competition is held in November with approximately 120 students aged 12 to 15 years. The event opens with a Friday night concert in Heritage Common and features aboriginal performers.

In January 2013 Perth will play host to the very best aquatic sporting athletes from around the globe. Australia’s most exciting ocean paddling event  from Rottnest Island to the mainland (or vice versa depending on wind conditions) is approximately 23 kilometers of ocean paddling.
