About the Role
As a member of the Rottnest Island Authority’s Executive Management Team, this position has joined responsibility for the sustainable management of Rottnest Island as a reserve and tourist destination by actively contributing to the strategic direction and management of the RIA and by providing advice to the Rottnest Island Authority (Board).
The position also assists the CEO in meeting safety and compliance requirements and becoming a sustainable enterprise while building RIA’s internal and commercial capability, including facilitating the development of high performance commercial business units and a customer centric culture focused on ongoing learning and continuous improvement and in participating in the development and management of a cohesive and productive Executive and Management team.
The position of General Manager Environment, Risk and Safety provides leadership, strategic management, oversight, and specialist advice for environmental protection and biodiversity conservation, regulatory compliance management, emergency management planning, preparedness, response and recovery, visitor services and product delivery support specifically in the bays, outer settlement and sensitive environmental areas, and risk and safety management for the enterprise at strategic and operational level.

The Island is an ‘A Class Reserve” and the Rottnest Island Authority’s role is to:
- Provide and operate recreational and holiday facilities on the island;
- Protect the Island’s flora and fauna; and
- Maintain and protect the Island’s natural environment and man-made resources.
