Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I need an Accommodation Wristband?

You must have a Leavers wristband to stay on the Island after 4.30pm or you will get turfed off!

You must be able to identify yourself as a 2009 Leaver in order to get your accommodation wristband.

Your accommodation wristband is also your entertainment wristband which gets you into both the daytime and night time entertainment zones.

If you are not booked into RIA accommodation on the Island, (ie staying on a boat or at the Lodge) you will have to buy a wristband to get into the entertainment zone.

You will need to have proof that you are a genuine 2009 Leaver! (see the section on Proof of ID)

Get it??  Got it??  Good!

Broke your wristband?

Yeh..right!........ Damaged or broken wristbands don’t count. You will have to buy a new one or bring your ID and all the broken bits to the Visitors Centre during office hours to apply for a new one.

Can I arrive early or stay longer?

No. All accommodation will be closed to the public on the 23rd and 27th of November.

You don’t have to live on two minute noodles!

Did you know that the local grocery store can deliver to your unit?

You can even pre order online!

There is also a Subway, Red Rooster, the Bakery and Wellness Café as well as the Geordie Bay Café. We even have EFTPOS.

Can I stay on a boat?

Yes. The usual marine and mooring conditions apply please read our Boating information. Please note that this year there will be no beach anchoring allowed and all pens at the fuel jetty will be closed.

You will still need to register to get a wristband. Why do you need a wrist band? See the bit on wristbands.

Can I change my mind about who is staying in the unit with me?

Yes, but you must notify Central Reservations at least 2 weeks out from the event.

It will cost you each time you make a change so wait until 2 weeks before arrival and do it all at once.

You break …you buy!

If you damage the units or mess with the environment you will be charged, fined and you may be evicted.

Contrary to popular belief the same laws that apply on the mainland apply on Rottnest Island!

Underage drinking is still illegal, no one is allowed to drink in public and if you are under age you can’t even carry alcohol without it costing you!

Pack a First Aid Kit!

It is really embarrassing to front up to the Medical Centre just because you need a band aid.

Don’t be stupid! Slip slop slap if you are in the sun.

Don’t drink and drown!

Stay off the funny stuff and don’t do things that could hurt you or others.
