Celebrate the wonder of nature and new life on Wadjemup / Rottnest Island with a weekend program of fun workshops, activities and festivities for the whole family.

The Noongar season of Djilba is known as first spring and is a transitional time on the island where the weather is warming up and wildlife thrive on an abundance of seeds and berries. Following the winter months, the island landscape comes to life.

Expect a program packed with live entertainment, arts and craft activities, quokka photography workshops, eco education, sensory play and more.

Children aged 5 – 12 years can also receive an exclusive Wadjemup / Rottnest Island Nature Passport at the event, which can be collected from the Event Information point.

Come and join in the celebrations on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 September 2026. This event is free, however registrations are required.

Registrations coming soon. Sign up to our email newsletter to be the first to know.

The final program and event map will be available closer to the event.

Where to find Little Quokka’s Big Birthday Weekend

The event is located in the heart of the Main Settlement, across Thomson Lawn and the terraces in front of the Visitor Centre. Visitors will find the event site just a two-minute walk or 350 metres from the Main Jetty.

There are connecting paved paths around the event site that are smooth and well-maintained, with some areas of inclination. Most of the activities take place on grass, although a few will be held on soft soil and bark.
