Departing from Thomson Bay, Rottnest Water Taxi effortlessly connects you to all corners of Rottnest Island with pick up and drop off points around the entire island. Return later in the day or make your own way back to the settlement by land.

The vessel, Island Explorer, is a 7.3 m Gemini RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) which offers a combination of stability, durability, and performance, allowing for safe and comfortable navigation in various conditions. This versatile and capable watercraft can accommodate up to 12 passengers and two crew members. 

Minimum two passengers required; however, passengers can be pooled together as required.

Zone 1: Pricing: $30 per transfer (up to 12 people)

Zone 2: Pricing: $70 per transfer (up to 12 people)

Rottnest Water Taxi operates from Wednesday to Sunday between 9 am and 2:30 pm.

Book online by selecting your pick up and drop off locations and preferred time. Alternatively, you can call (+61 8) 6170 5101 to request a service, or pay in person at the boat (subject to availability).

Rottnest Water Taxi departs from the Fuel Jetty, close to the main jetty where the ferries arrive. 

Frequently Asked Questions

Bookings can be made online through Rottnest Island Water Taxi’s website, over the phone, or in person at the boat. All bookings are one-way so remember to make an additional booking if you would like a return journey.

Subject to availability, a booking can be made immediately upon request. To avoid disappointment, it is always recommended to book as far in advance as possible.

You’re welcome to bring surfboards, fishing equipment, and suitcases on board. If in doubt, please contact Rottnest Water Taxi directly as the team are happy to help.

You won't get wet during the boat ride, but when boarding and leaving, you might walk through shallow water, getting only your feet and ankles wet.
