The Doctor 2026

Regarded by many as the ultimate ocean paddling race, the Shaw and Partners Doctor is a crossing from the iconic Wadjemup / Rottnest Island to the stunning white sands of Sorrento Beach.

Starting on the shimmering blue waters of Rottnest Island, paddlers ride into the fast-moving ocean chop, whipped up by “The Doctor” - the afternoon south-westerly wind for which the event is named, and which prevails nearly every day in summer. After 27 km of paddling, racegoers catch the final run to the beach to make a short sprint to the finish on Sorrento Beach.
