There is no better place to spend the last day of 2026 and welcome the new year with friends and family.
Enjoy a day of exploring the island before relaxing into an afternoon of fun, family-friendly entertainment with roving performances and live music from 4 pm.
As the sun dips below the horizon of the Indian Ocean, gather to mark the occasion with a spectacular free family fireworks display above Thomson Bay at 8 pm. It's the perfect way to usher in a bright new year and create lasting memories.
With regular ferry services departing back to Fremantle and Hillarys, you can enjoy the island all day before returning home after the fireworks.
This event is free. Registrations will open soon.
Visitor Safety and Wellbeing
New Year’s Eve is a particularly popular time on Rottnest Island. To ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable night, remember that:
Drinking alcohol in public spaces is prohibited in accordance with Western Australian law.
Minors must be supervised by a parent or legal guardian while on the island, including overnight.
While every intent is for events to go ahead as planned, activities and the fireworks display are subject to change due to weather conditions, including wind.
Where to find the NYE Family Fireworks
The event is located in the heart of the main settlement, across Thomson Lawn, an easy two-minute walk from the main jetty.
