Overnight Camp Subsidy

Connecting students with the wonders of Wadjemup

Rottnest Island is a popular  school camp destination, offering a wealth of nature-based and cultural experiences to ignite curiosity among students of all ages. And now even more students can access the educational experiences on Wadjemup / Rottnest Island, with the Rottnest Island Authority Overnight Camp Subsidy.

Western Australian government public schools can apply for the program which includes from 75% to 100% subsidised fees for Rottnest Island Authority accommodation, bike hire and educational tours for schools which meet the criteria of an Index of Community Socio-Educational Advantage (ICSEA) percentile between 0 to 60 based on the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACRA) 2022 and 2023 database.

Applications Now Closed
Applications to receive a subsidised overnight school camp have now closed and all schools have been notified of the outcome. We look forward to welcoming successful schools to Rottnest Island in Term 3.

Overnight Camp Subsidy Inclusions 

Accommodation Accommodation in Kingstown Dorms, Hostel and Governor Circle for a maximum of 3 consecutive nights (Sunday to Thursday nights in Term 3 2024). 
Bike HireStandard pedal bikes (adult and child sizes) and accessible equipment for teachers and students. 
Educational Tours One educational tour with the Rottnest Voluntary Guides Association. 

 

 

Discounted Ferry Transfers

Ferry operators Rottnest Express and Rottnest Fast Ferries are supporting this program by providing discounts from 40% to 100% off transfers for successful applicants, subject to terms and conditions. Schools will need to make travel arrangements directly through their preferred ferry provider.
