Northport Terminal Closure
The Northport ferry terminal will be closed for renovations from Sunday 21 April 2024. The Northport café and the Wilson carpark will also be closed.

Services depart from B Shed in Fremantle, with the earliest service departing at 7:30 am. Should you choose to depart from Barrack Street Jetty in Perth, enjoy a cruise down the Swan River with guided commentary by the knowledgeable team throughout the 1.5-hour trip.

Service dogs are also permitted on all ferry services, however, please contact the Rottnest Island rangers on (+61 8) 9372 9788 prior to travel as the island is a protected Class A Reserve.

Where To Find Rottnest Express

Ferries arrive at the main jetty in Thomson Bay, which is a few hundred metres from the Visitor Centre, and a few minutes by foot or bike to other island amenities.

When you travel with Rottnest Express, you can get to the island in approximately 30 minutes (Fremantle to Rottnest Island).

If you’re staying in Perth’s city centre, this is the fastest travel route to the island with a total journey time of 90 minutes.
It is highly recommended to book online in advance to secure your seats. In peak times, including summer months, weekends and school holidays, tickets can sell out quickly.
Tickets may be available on the day prior to departure, subject to availability.

This fee is collected by ferry operators on behalf of the Rottnest Island Authority and contributes to the provision of island facilities.

All visitors are required to pay an admission fee. Visitors arriving by ferry pay this fee as part of their fare at the time of booking.
