Everything you need to make the most of your island experience.

The Visitor Centre is here to help make your visit to Wadjemup, Rottnest Island one to remember.

A must-visit destination when you arrive, drop in to pick up a map and receive personalised advice on all the best things to see and do on the island. 

Whether it’s information about attractions, events, bus services or mooring rentals, our friendly team is here to help - they can even help with tour bookings and bike hire while you’re there.

Stay Rottnest accommodation guests can also check in at the Visitor Centre from 2 pm daily.
Lost Property 

Fear not, all is not lost!  If you have lost any valuable items on the island, you can register your lost property by completing a Lost Property Form or check to see if your lost item has been handed in.

Equipment Transfer 

Do you have heavy or hard-to-carry items you need transferred to your accommodation? Leave it to us. 

For an additional charge of $12.50 per item each way, we can transfer your kayaks, paddle boards and surfboards from the main jetty to your accommodation units. There is no need to pre-book, simply bring the article to the end of the jetty opposite the Welcome sign and drop into the Visitor Centre to pay for your labels.

Gifts & Souvenirs

Before leaving the island, pop into the Visitor Centre to browse our range of locally designed gifts and souvenirs.

The perfect way to remember your island experience, you’ll find a range of quokka-themed merchandise as well as a selection of jewellery, hats, homewares, chocolates and photography prints.

Where to find the Visitor Centre

The Rottnest Island Visitor Centre is conveniently located in Thomson Bay, at the end of the main jetty.

Frequently Asked Questions

Lockers are available for hire at the back of the Visitor Centre should you need to store luggage or bags during your visit.  

There are two locker sizes to choose from:

  • Large locker is approximately 86 cm deep and 56 cm high.
  • Small locker is approximately 56 cm deep and 40 cm high.

The only way to alter your ferry departure time is to call your ferry operator directly as the Visitor Centre does not have access to their internal booking systems; however, the Visitor Centre has a free phone which you can use to contact your ferry operator if you need to.

A wide range of bikes, e-bikes and e-scooters can be hired on the island from Pedal & Flipper Hire, situated just behind Hotel Rottnest.

Souvenirs can be purchased at the Visitor Centre, Island Gypsy, and the General Store.

There is currently no online store to purchase souvenirs. 

All mooring rentals and admission fees are paid online here. Should you have difficulties, the Visitor Centre team can assist but payment must be made online.

Rental mooring bookings can be made online here. Should you have difficulties, the Visitor Centre team can assist but the booking must be made online.

Toilet facilities, including accessible toilets and baby change facilities, are located behind the Visitor Centre.
